Robert K. Yates, BASc., M.Eng., MBA
Mr. Yates has been Co-President of LEMAY-YATES ASSOCIATES
INC. since its inception in 1993 and has over 25 years
of experience in the telecom industry. Mr. Yates is
an expert in market forecasting and segmentation analysis,
business case development, network technologies and
enterprise valuation.
Mr. Yates has often been called upon to support clients
via expert testimony in regulatory or other public proceedings.
Testimony has been focused on industry competitive structure,
foreign ownership policy, broadband network evolution,
interconnection, cost structures and business economics.
In the wireless arena, Mr. Yates has been instrumental
in development of in-depth business cases working closely
with clients to assess competitive entry, auction strategy,
license valuation and financial viability for mobile
and fixed services, and combinations thereof.
Mr. Yates has contributed to LYA’s published Reports
and has provided many customised analyses and market
forecasts to private clients.
Mr. Yates holds a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
(1979) and a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering
– Specialisation in Management Science/Operations Research
(1983), both from the University of Toronto. He completed
his MBA in Concordia University’s Executive Program
in Montreal in 1992. Prior to embarking on a career
as a consultant, Mr. Yates spent 10 years with Bell
Canada and Nortel Networks.
